Dynamic Transformation
A commission to transform a 1920’s former coachworks for Barker & Co, coach builders for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Daimler in Notting Hill, London into a major new art foundation and media offices. The brief includes exhibition, education and multi-media spaces which will allow for a wide range of programmed events for the foundation.
The proposal creates dramatic new triple and double height spaces within the existing building fabric while sensitively upgrading the industrial building to new low energy and access performance standards. A site specific light installation by James Turrell animates the glazed openings in the facade via a programmed LED colour sequence.
