Reconnecting the city to the sea

A research project for a private developer to design a strategic masterplan for the recovered seafront area that was transferred to the city by the Port Authority in late 2003.

In conjunction with BDSP Engineers and Nova Ingenieria we studied the issues of ground contamination and soil enrichment, together with wind and solar orientation. A priority is to reduce energy demand through simple architectural means whilst in parallel addressing public transport and social mix on the site.
